Working Class Rock

In need of a kick ass rock tune for your playlist? We got one for you. It’s Oasis, Blue and the Sex Pistols, with a bit of Screaming Trees, Masters of Destruction and Queens of the Stone Age. Here’s our review of the latest single from Dimes, called “Crony Capital.”

When this track starts, it sounds like the band is from the Inland Empire or the PNW. It sounds like something that would come from such legendary producers as Chris Goss or Steve Fisk, and then you hear the vocals and you’re like - hell yeah, this is working class UK rock! The tones are thick and tight. The lyrics are biting and the delivery is reminiscent of a protester in the street. The BG’s are a shout chorus in your face. The solo’s are chaotic and swirling. It’s all a great energy and great ride. The mix and production are solid. Love the structure of the song too, especially how they break up the verses and leave plenty of space for the vocals between the fuzzy head riff. This is a grunge rock / punk rock / high desert rock beating of your psyche, with all the energy that most bands never find, and lyrics that absolutely define their politics, fate and beliefs. This is pure rock, the way it should be.

Make sure you scroll down and check out their socials and other tracks. “State Run Press” is a killer track with a great video. Love the lyrics and the sentiment! “Class Divide” is a loose and heavy track that highlights their ability to switch gears between the verse and chorus with solid riff changes - showing you a clever hand in their writing style. “Blue Ties” has some of the coolest guitar tones we’ve heard in a while. Hard to believe this band has been around for less than 2 years, their sound is more involved than that. We love this band, wish we could see them over here in the States and watch them teach the Yank rockers a thing or two.
