Get Outta My Head
Sofia Evangelina was born in Canada to parents of Russian and French descent. Her career started there, but her talent has taken her around the globe . She’s one of those artists that has the potential to do very well in the modeling world, but it’s her vocal chops set her apart. Her latest track, “Get Outta My Head,” is a great example of her abilities. Here’s our review.
The track starts with the main riff buried in a lo-fi piano patch. With a swell, the vocals and beat drop in over a sweet organ patch and we begin to hear Sofia’s tone and solid control. Love the melody here - she uses a great trick by hitting that raised 7th of the minor tonic. Pre-chorus is a tension builder and well thought out. Really enjoy the way she and Producer Jeff Dawson flip that minor 5 to a major to bring in the chorus.
Chorus is a solid sing-along of the title. She breaks it up in the third stanza with a change up in the lyrical delivery that keeps it fresh and interesting. Second verse amps up the tension a bit as we hear more of her range and stunning control. She shows a stronger tone here to drive home the intensity of the message - as well she should. More great through process emerges here as they take a quick break to expand on the word “noise” - which fits perfectly into the lyrical theme of this track where she can’t get this love interest out of her head. Another pre-chorus and we’re back to the great hook of the title and she adds in some killer harmonies to that 3rd stanza.
The bridge throws the vibe wide open with a slight chord change and a different layer of BG’s. Great Ariana and Tori vibes here. Definitely see this being huge in a live setting - expanding it out to get the crowd going. Then we’re back to a final chorus and an ending that recalls that organ patch we dig so much. This is a solid Pop / R&B track that is definitely radio friendly.
It would be great to catch her in a live setting, but unfortunately for us she is currently based in Dubai. If she keeps releasing songs like this, there’s no doubt we’ll be able to catch her anywhere.
