Blood Bank

ICEBERG is a multi-instrumentalist, artist and producer who began playing piano at 8, and taught herself guitar at 20. After several years in Nashville, she relocated to London to find a better musical and personal fit for her life and was fortunate enough to be accepted at BIMM Institute to study audio engineering and production. She now splits her time between New York and London and has opened a production company (Glassnote Productions) to help female, gay and trans artists release their music. She’s created an impressive resume and company, in addition to beautiful tracks. Here’s our review of “Blood Bank.”

If you dig Tori Amos, Sara Bareilles and Phoebe Bridgers, you need to check this out. It starts right away with an intimate lyric and a simple guitar part underneath (gotta be a Fender). As the verse picks up, the parts slowly build in until we get to a vocalized chorus chant that serves as a pre chorus and we don’t get a full, “traditional” chorus until about 1:21 in. Love it - anything non-traditional we’re a big fan of. We envision those chants filling up arenas, and that guitar riff hidden in the back is killer. Have to also say how much we enjoy the mix. We wrote this review while listening to it on our 5” studio monitors, as well as our IEM’s and the mix transferred perfectly. The bass and drum tones alone are reason enough to fall in love with this track.

Second verse creates a massive dynamic change - everything drops out, except for her vocal and a gorgeous piano riff, which provides the foundation for everything to come back in in a torrent of emotion. Ethereal BG’s, guitars, massive drums and that gorgeous mix that spans the spectrum with a huge bass that’s timed to come in perfectly when she hits her upper vocal register. When this second full chorus hits, it’s as big as an arena - we wish it would go on and on! This is a passionate love song with great images - using the idea of her lover as being her blood bank. It’s a relatable vibe, but uniquely visual and all of her vocal work on the track does a great job of presenting it.

There’s a lot to love about ICEBERG and what she’s accomplishing. There’s not enough inclusion in our industry, but passionate professionals like her are fighting the good fight to change that. The industry, and the world, needs more like her. We’re fans now and look forward to what she’ll be doing next. Make sure you scroll down and catch her socials and other tracks.
