Electric Neon Clouds

The art-pop musical alter-ego of Jérémy Cornellier from Quebec

An earworm from the Great White North

A unique voice, danceable tracks, fashion sense, and great videos; that’s Electric Neon Clouds, the art-pop musical alter-ego of Jérémy Cornellier from Quebec.

“Supersoul” is an ear worm.  A strong mix of fresh and standard tones that roll underneath his raspy chest voice and clear falsetto.  The vocals jump right in off the track.  A soft 1st pre chorus highlights his falsetto before he takes us back to his chest voice for a full chorus, asking us to catch his wave, and we’re hooked.  2nd verse is full chest voice on top of the solid, piano based chord progression.  There’s a slight break after the 2nd verse, with a lo-fi vocal effect that lets us catch our breath before it skyrockets again into the second chorus.  The chorus asks the listener if they want to know where the emotions go when you’ve lost the feeling, or where they go when you forget what is real – a great question to ask in today’s crazy times.  A great line here – “if you ever try to see what’s truth behind the fantasy, guess what’s yours is as good as mine” – exactly.  So on point.  With lines like this, and great sense of style, he’s throwing off some major Bowie vibes.  This tune deserves a boat load of streams.

What is also hidden in this track that makes it so danceable is an undercurrent of Niles Rogers, Chic, and the great dance songs of the 70’s.  If he keeps this up, he’s going to have a beautiful career.  Here’s hoping he continues to shine in Canada and breaks through down here.
