Good things come to those who wait

Beyond the Sun is comprised of three talented brothers from the Toronto area who moved to Nashville a few years ago to expand their career.  Phil (production), Dalton (drums), and Colin Radu (singer) have been releasing songs since their debut single, “My Kind of Crazy” in 2013.  Their releases have spanned pop-punk, country-pop, rock and alternative.  “Rest of My Days” fits right into the pop-rock sound coming out of Nashville these days – with tones reminiscent of Hunter Hayes and John Mayer, and the relatable story that makes “music city” what it is - the place for songwriters to master their craft.

The track is a fist-pumping love song, a declaration of “good things come to those who wait.”  It has a synth-pop vibe to start the first verse as we hear Colin tell the tale of a young man who, in changing his appearance, believes he’s finally being seen for who he really is, for the first time – and has found someone he knows he’ll spend the rest of this days with.  When the pre-chorus hits, we begin to hear what Colin is vocally capable of.  His phrasing and tone over this acrobatic melody are absolutely great.  That’s the part of the song that hooked us.  Then, the chorus hits you with a half-tempo, bang your head feel, that creates more intensity but leaves plenty of room for the voice and the message – solid production here.  Second verse picks up where the 1st left off lyrically but maintains the intensity and then we’re right back to Colin’s killer pre.  Second chorus and the instrumental section immediately after it remind us of Coldplay playing stadiums, then we come to a lo-fi like breakdown to catch our breath, then a final (and slightly different) chorus with tagged lines and a nice outro that brings up images of a happy couple together.  This is a great 3:45 ride.

Beyond the Sun is making all the right moves. They’ve headlined in Puerto Rico, they’re landing on Spotify playlists, still gigging in Canada and touring in the states, getting spins in Europe, and press in SE Asia.  They have impressive catalog of work, but even better, a work ethic that is taking them far beyond the boundaries of their hometown.  We look forward to hearing what they’ll do next!
