Intoxicated

Making Judas Priest sound like Britney Spears

(whom we both love, btw)

“Watch You Burn” - further proof that FL produces quality thrash

Dismiss this genre of metal all you want, but you’d be a fool to.  You don’t have to like the music to appreciate the dexterity and stamina it takes to create and perform music like this.

Prior to this full-length record, the band released an EP in 2020 and a few singles.  With these ten tracks, they are adding to their set list with an impressive display of musicianship.  “Majestic Ride” has a killer triplet feel from the start.  The intervals that open up “Grovel” are head spinning, and remind us of the most difficult practicing regiment our teachers put us through.  The verse groove on “Dumpster Dive” is so thick it makes Judas Priest sound like Britney Spears.  “Force Fed” swings like a 5-ton wrecking ball of distortion over an 8th note triplet kick pattern (to start!).  The final track, aptly title “Inevitable End” once again displays a change in guitar tone – reiterating the fact that these songs do not all sound the same.  If you think so, you’re not paying attention to the details.  Like many thrash bands, vocal duties are covered by more than one member of the band – and we can understand why.  This type of singing is incredibly difficult.  The duties here are split between the rhythm guitarist and bassist.

Florida has long been known to have a killer thrash scene.  Maybe it’s the heat.  Maybe it’s all the poisonous snakes and gators.  Maybe it’s the mosquitos.  Whatever it is, bands like Intoxicated are doing a great job of keeping it alive.    Make sure you check out their YouTube page – they’ve got some great footage up there.  We look forward to hearing more from them.
