Tired all the Time

Regrets

Tired all the Time is a Washington D.C. based trio that describes their music as “Alternative, Noise Pop, and Experimental Rock.” You’ll be surprised to learn that this trio is bass, drums & keys, not bass, drums & guitars. The result is a definitely a unique sound - one that not enough bands explore. They released an LP in 2017, and EP in 2018 and several singles since. Here’s our review of “Regrets,” their latest single out October 7, 2022.

Track starts with a mid-tempo groove and then we’re immediately into the verse with a subdued melody and the heavy topic of our societal challenges. It’s hard to discern if the first structural change is a pre-chorus or an extension of the verse, but it works - the focus is on the lyrics and storytelling, and the drone like production helps solidify the heaviness of the message. Second verse starts with a higher melody as the lyrics continue the story of choices, regrets and our changing world. This verse feels longer than the first, but the “pre-chorus” doesn’t come, and that’s OK. With the second chorus, the musical intensity builds and there’s a great line you need to catch - “the world that made you miserable is the one where you were raised.” It ends with what feels like an altered chorus, another great line, “stasis teaches us how still we never truly stay.” Heavy. Love how the production of this track is a perfect match to the lyrical mood. Love how the bassist and drummer don’t get in the way of the lyrics, and how the added keys throughout the track help build the intensity and lyrical tension. Alternative, Noise Pop and Experimental? Absolutely. There’s not a lot of bands that sound like this - there’s a tremendous amount of thought behind this production - no wonder they’re tired all the time. ;)

Make sure you scroll down and catch their socials. They are no strangers to road - playing primarily on the Eastern Seaboard, but have done some shows in the Midwest, too. We hope you’ll go through their discography, too. Our favorites include “Then and There,” “Only Exception” (with a great guitar riff and a heavy groove), and “This Rotten Self,” which is a sparsely recorded jam when compared to everything else. This is definitely one of the more interesting bands on the market right now, we look forward to what they’ll do next!
