“Still On My Mind,” when a song is a diary.

One of the great things about being a songwriter is having a medium to express your thoughts - beyond the standard diary. That’s where the connection with the general public begins. “Still On My Mind” takes an emotion we’ve all been through and makes it relatable to all.

Production is solid. There’s a smooth and steady grove underneath Rochelle’s sultry delivery that never brags. There’s an interesting melodic play that happens when the bass slips into the harmonic minor while the main melody doesn’t change. When the chorus comes around, the melody then changes slightly to reflect the altered chords - a nice way to differentiate between the sections. In the second chorus, there’s a tasteful chord change at the end at sets up a 3rd verse into a beautiful bridge.

Lyrically, the images portrayed could easily be transferred into any genre - they’re that relatable.

In this her second release, she’s giving hints of Brandy, and Monica. There’s a smokiness to her voice that is “required” for the great R&B singers. We look forward to hearing how her voice and art progresses after this strong release.
